Food safety has always been a great concern in China. Instead of relying on imported food supplies, Shuang took matters into his own hands. In the fall of 2010, Shuang and a few co-workers set up a co-op organic farm on Chongming Island, at the mouth of Yangtze River, off Shanghai. Chongming Island was Shuang's Shanghai Shangri-La. Living an idyllic, almost self-sufficient lifestyle had always been the retirement dream of Shuang. The Chongming project offered more than healthy produce, it allowed Shuang a glimpse of pristine living, Thoreau's style.
